Violin Repairs
As
well as making violins
I am also experienced in
violin
repair.
The
photograph
(1) above shows the shaping
of the studs to strengthen
a crack repair on the
instrument.
These
photographs show
a Neck
Graft, a high degree of
skill
and
accuracy
are needed to ensure a
nice tight and snug
fit,
prior to glueing
and shaping. This is a
major
repair,
all
surfaces
have
to
be
flat
and
touching
hence
the
use
of
chalk
to
highlight
the
work
in
progress.
The

illustrate
a
few
of
the
repairs
that
are
fairly
common.
